In the Netherlands one in ten children falls victim to sexual abuse. The perpetrator is often someone the child knows quite well. With this campaign we want to break the taboo, because the more we talk about it, and show that it’s okay to talk about it, the earlier abuse might come to light, and the better victims might be able to process their trauma. The film offers our audience a (temporary) shared framework from which it is somewhat easier to start an incredibly difficult conversation.

If you live in a house as a child with someone who abuses you, it is extremely difficult. And if that same person also provides your food, the roof over your head, then this also creates an enormous division in you as a victim. Many women, many victims of sexual violence struggle with this

By immersing viewers in a first-person experience of someone who was sexually abused (Embodying) people learn how this type of abuse works; that it is layered, complex and difficult to notice, and how it can manifest itself in the behaviour of a child (Learning). Talking about the movie afterwards, digging into the topic, invites people to open up (Empowering) and extend care to each other when we do (Caring).
